AIWO-SA

The Africa Indigenous Women Organisation of Southern Africa (AIWO-SA) is a regional chapter of the umbrella organisation based in Nairobi, Kenya. AIWO-SA is a regrouping of indigenous women non-governmental, community-based, faith-based and related grass-roots organisations in Southern Africa that represent and undertake economic, social and cultural as well as political activities for the benefit of their members.

Enhancing and strengthening the capacity of indigenous women in Southern Africa by providing them the platform and framework for participation; socio-economic and cultural and political participation as well as upholding and protecting their fundamental rights and freedoms.

Empowerment and improvement of livelihood for indigenous women within the Southern Africa region

AIWO-SA’s core values are embedded in the conviction that the indigenous women of Southern Africa are equal in dignity and worth to all other peoples, and in accordance with the right of all peoples to be different, are entitled to consider themselves different, and be respected as such.
